@norikawa @Vordus Th uk only looks like a fantasy land until you live in it. I lived in it for a semester, and the most fantastic thing about it were the castles everywhere, but to UK people those are just nbd.
British surnames sound like fantasy to us because most fantasy we consume on this side of the pond has a British twist to it, and you can thank Tolkien for that.
@norikawa That's complex. The US is basically 50 countries pretending to be one big one, so it's hard to come up with one overall summation of how american culture looks from across the pond.
